DRIVING OUT OF
LEKKI this morning, it was obvious that a lotta young people were just coming
back from their Friday night parties, clubs and more. I could tell most of them were
in their twenty-somethings and maybe some teens too. Sometimes I ask myself:
“what’s life about for these young folks?” “What do they actually desire from
life?” A life full of “party’ings” @ this stage of growing up may not (and will not) prove to be the ideal way of life in the actual sense! But most
times it’s very difficult to set this point straight to our young teens (and
young adults) these days. But at most there seems to be no much control over what
they do, or choose to do. They all wanna get rich (or wreck trying!); or at best
enjoy the bit of it while it lasts! I think our young folks should make a
re-think, and make it fast! Life is not (and I can’t remember when it was) a
bed of roses. At worst roses have thorns, so a bed of roses wouldn’t be that
cozy I think???
So what then? How
do we let them know it’s all about focus, and not really about swags, the best
clubber, or the one with the highest insta’ likes! **I’m not saying a good relaxation shouldn't be
sought after once a while** but it should be in the minimal percentage of the
time, not the maximal.
I have Quilox club (the
most expensive club in West-Africa, yea! It’s right here in Lekki Lagos!) I
have it right in-front of me, and I can spend as much as I wish in Quilox every
evening if I had wanted, but hey! That weren't how we got thus far, was it?
I
guess there’s a "disorientation" somewhere; maybe it could be the falsehood of
wealth displayed in the life around us: Music videos, lifestyles, extravagance
everywhere, or what?
What is misleading
our young ones of these days?
