#Eko ile! [iDey#1]


MESH (Part 1): 

               A quick glance at his Rolex Oyster and the timepiece says: ‘six past midnight’. It was a stormy night; afterwards the Emirates airline touched down and taxied, Tajudeen was on his way home in an airport taxi. "Sade will be surprised to see me…" he thought, looking through the speeding window amidst the city lights, as the high lights of the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge take its stance at a distance like a giant Christmas tree.
            One needn't a hearing-aid to decipher the sweet sounds of Sade’s sensual mourning coming from the bedroom upstairs. Bewildered, Tajudeen tiptoes up the stairs, as the sound of Sade’s sweet sensation grow louder…and louder. Now what? He comes home unannounced, and another is in bed with his wife? But who mysteriously murders his wife on the same night? In his plight,Tajudeen changes his mind; he tiptoes down the stairs, into the kitchen. The bedroom was right above the kitchen, so now both the thumping and mourning became synchronized as Tajudeen angrily unravels the utensils drawer and pulls out a kitchen knife. On a second thought he makes for a wooden pestle, no, a saucepan, no, an egg whisk…a cooking pot…‘I can’t believe this is happening…’ he thought, as he abruptly drops everything, and sadly begins to make his way up the stairs to his fate.
            His hand on the doorknob, he freezes a while as a reeking sound calls the attention of them within: “Who’s that?” Sade calls from inside, but Tajudeen fails to answer as footsteps approach, and the door swings open to a dejected and very angry Tajudeen standing at the doorway: “Taju!” Sade cries out, her face as one who had seen a ghost; Tajudeen, walking into the room with the pace of a beat up zombie...To be continued...
